DEPUTY OTT STARTED A PROJECT CALLED CATHOLIC CARE PACKS
January 30, 2019
Remember Rock Island Co. Deputy Tim Ott? Local 4 News WHBF TV first shared his story back in January.
Deputy Ott started a project called Catholic Care Packs, backpacks filled with supplies to help those in need. Those packs are then handed out to first responders all over the Quad Cities area so they always have packs handy to give away.
When we spoke to some of the first responders who partnered with this project, they said these packs could save lives, especially in these frigid temp.
Well this morning I got an update from Deputy Ott:
"Heading to re-supply Davenport PD, Scott Co, Galesburg, Clinton and soon Dubuque! We will be entering our third diocese."
Here's a friendly mid-week reminder that there are people like Deputy Ott out there dedicated to being kind and helping others.
Here's the story again in case you need a pick-me-up today:

BEYOND THE BADGE: DEPUTY SHOWS HE CARES THROUGH BACKPACKS PROGRAM
December 22, 2021
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Three letters - CCP - are filling a need in the Quad Cities.
"I try to live my faith. I'm a Catholic who happens to be a deputy sheriff," explained Deputy Tim Ott.
Ott created Catholic Care Packs after he saw too many people leave the Rock Island County Jail empty-handed.
"They had pretty much their whole life in a garbage bag, or a grocery bag, and it was all tattered or torn," he explained.

The backpacks didn’t have to travel far for their blessings today. Seen here are the packs being blessed at St. Mary’s monastery and the sisters who assemble the packs for us. Thank you sisters and father Jack for the blessing.
